We are delighted to be hosting this leader’s lunch with Carrie and David Grant.
In partnership with Through the Roof, Carrie and David will be interviewed about how churches can support families with vulnerable young people and children with additional needs.
Carrie and David Grant are BAFTA award-winning broadcasters, vocal coaches, leadership coaches and campaigners. Their TV and music career has spanned over 35 years and they have been awarded a MOBO award and a BASCA for their lifetime services to the music industry.
David has had 14 hit records and been nominated for 2 Brit Awards. David was awarded an MBE in 2019 for his lifetime services to music. David has acted for The National Theatre (Oh What a Lovely War) and Bristol Old Vic (Amen Corner) and starred in the National Tour of Five Guys Named Mo.
Carrie started her career as a dancer and singer and represented the UK in the Eurovision 1983. She went on to host a number of TV shows and provided backing vocals for many artists. She is currently a reporter for BBC 1’s The One Show and together with David hosts the Saturday Breakfast Show on BBC Radio London. In 2018 Carrie was awarded 2 Honorary Doctorate from the University of Bedfordshire and Middlesex University.
Together Carrie and David became vocal coaches on Pop Idol and then went on to become a coaches and judges on Fame Academy. They created and presented the ground-breaking CBeebies show Carrie and David’s Popshop. Together they have both the largest selling vocal coaching book and the biggest on-line vocal coaching course in the world. They are regular judges on Chorister/Young choir/Gospel Choir of the Year.

Carrie and David have four children three are birth children, one was adopted – all have special needs. Carrie is President of the Unite Union for Health Visitors and School Nurses and the Patient Lead for The College of Medicine.
David grew up with a Christian faith but became a committed Christian at the age of 29. Carrie is Jewish by birth and became a believer at the age of 20. Carrie’s Christian-hating, racist father became a Christian and then a missionary in West Africa, dying of malaria in Sierra Leone and is buried there. For the past 10yrs Carrie and David have run a church in their home, called The Space, alongside New Wine Leaders, Rev John and Anne Coles.
